Two things. First I just got a really neat comment
system installed. So all you have to do is click the
comment button and then write your comment.
Obviously, let's keep it clean. I saw this on
a blog called Things Everyone Should Know.
The comments are brought to us by HaloScan.com.
Be sure to try them out!

The second thing is that I will be on vacation for
a few days. 7 to be exact. So I will not be able
to post then, but I will try to save the news and
post it later. See you then.

Somehow it is not a surprise that the Sunday edition of
the Chattanooga Times Free Press gives me more news
to announce than I had all last week. So first I'll start with
some news that is not about us directly but is just pretty
incredible and still Baylor related. Baylor is getting a golf center.
Yes, a golf center. This will include several places for golfers
to tee off and a green with sand traps. Right when we leave too!
I mean what could have been better for you golfers to do in
your free period.

Baylor School Begins Construction On New Golf Center

Peer in the News:

Our very own Amber Kennedy is going to play tennis
this coming year for UTC. As I have no doubt that she
is working hard right now getting ready, we wish her
the best of luck with her tennis career, no matter how
lengthy.

Peer in the News:

It never seems to stop. That is the golf news I keep
getting. I mean I truly do not know that much about
golf and with Luke List and now the construction of
the new Baylor Golf Center I am having to learn all
about the playing of the game. But it gets worse,
as many of you are aware the Classic, a PGA tour
tournament, is being hosted at the prestigious
Black Creek Club. Well, If you will all turn with me to
page 10 in the "Classic" insert in your Chattanooga Times
Free Press, there you go, then you will see another one
of our own preparing the club for the Chattanooga Classic.

That man is Clay Crumbliss. Needless to say, the part that
he is doing, the painting, the mowing, and the landscaping,
I do know a little about. So there is not too much golf
overload on my part. I am going to take a little liberty here,
since I Matt is my friend, and also say that Matt Farr, although
I do not know specifically what he is doing, is also helping.
Good luck to both of you, and all of you going to see the Chattanooga
Classic
thank them for the hard work that they have done and
still will be doing.

If you subscribe to the Chattanooga Times Free Press than
your family can get a password by filling out questions on
their home page. It will ask you for information about your
subscription but if it clears you, then you will be able to appreciate
this news much better. I am sorry, but right now there is no
other way to bring the news to you since that paper is my main source.
Hopefully, I will get news from the people themselves, but until then
there are always the Baylor links and the Chattanoogan.com links.

Not much more to say but good luck to you

Well, I know for most of you fellow grads,
college is right around the corner and
that means you'll be leaving your family,
your city, your state, maybe even your country.
But I just want to say to all of you good luck
in college and in life, and until then just
remember that there is still plenty of time
to go fish at the lake, bowl at TriState, or just
hang out with your friends, fellow grads or not.
So have a good rest of your summer, and until
then, and after I hope, I'll try to help you keep
in touch with your peers.

Peer in the News:

Can you believe it Luke List almost got in the
Masters! I don't know golf but I know that's good.
Well, so good yet so close. He'll be playing in Michigan
so if you see him wish him luck.

Luke List keeps on showing us his skill and he's
done it again by getting himself, thus far, into the
quarterfinal round in the USGA Men's Amateur Publinks.
So keep up the good golf Luke.

There are a bunch or reasons why I started this weblog.
One of the main reasons is that I wanted to get the news
for our class, 2003, out sooner than Baylor itself would.
This would make this the go-to site for 2003 grad information.
Well, it appears so far it's going pretty well, because I just got the
Baylor Magazine and I already talk about a lot of that stuff.

Initially, the magazine starts out with a From the Editor section,
where the editor says frankly the limitations of the magazine.
"You won't read because of the constraints of our publication..."
But here you already have read about some of the things he does
not have space for, like Luke List qualifying for the U.S. open.
They don't mention our three grads recognized all-state by the TSWA.
They do mention the valedictory award winner and a bunch of other
award winners, that I'll talk about briefly. Oh yeah, and Drew Frederickson
was honorably mentioned, especially because of his cares for the editor,
Julie J. Van Valkenburg's son.

Honestly, the reason I did not write about them is because there are too many
and we've heard them before. If you want specifics e-mail me at
baylorschool2003@yahoo.com or check out the Baylor website news while it's there.
There's also a lot of sports awards, like best of preps. You can go to it at the
Raider Recap for June. I can't link to the Chattanooga Times Free Press
though because Baylor's did not link there right. Oh well, at least you have the link above.
Continue having a good summer because we have about a month left till college!

I have noticed that most of the information I am
currently posting about fellow alums is sports related. It makes
sense really, so here is some more athletic alumni news.

Peers in the news:

Since spring sports end so late in the year, many of the
awards are announced a fair amount of time later.
Well, today, the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA)
announced it's choices for the all-state teams for baseball.
Wes Hodges was duly honored as an infielder, while
Kane Simmons was equally awarded as a designated
hitter. Good job to both of you, and good luck with your
future baseball endeavors.

At the same time, TSWA also announced their
all-state softball team and Katie Bulls, an outfielder, recieved
their recognition. Congratulations to you, and good luck with
you sports whichever ones you do.

Mind you, I don't know if you think these are all
noteworthy, but seeing as how there's not many
of you reading this anyway and how this is for anything and
everything us, especially when there's a lull, then
I'll put any reference to a fellow 2003 alum that I find.
So here we go.

Peers in the news:

Apparently the Chattanooga Times Free Press
did a store on thrift stores and seeing as
how many of us shop there it should be no
suprise that the picture attached shows fellow
baylor grads, in this case Mary Attaway and
Brittany Wilkins. This article is not about them,
nor do they even have quotes, just a picture
and the caption attached but they are fellow
alums in the news. The article is from the July 8
paper on the front of the metro. It is called
Groups Wary of Thrift Store Chain. Once again
you need a password to read it online.
Well, continue having a good summer!

There will be some more additions coming soon,
I can't decide what, but one for sure is this
"Tell-a-Friend" feature, brought to you by
the fine people of BraveNet. If you like this site
and you want others to know about it, then
just click on the "Tell-a-Friend" and you'll be
able to send an e-mail to them really easily
that way. Well, thanks and keep talking.

Wednesday, July 09, 2003

Well, no news to speak of. I just wanted to make you aware
of the features of this site. First, of all, this site is brought to
you by me using www.blogger.com, it is amazingly
easy, and I highly recommend it for anyone who blogs, which is
what I do. I also would like to point out the counter at the bottom
of the page. It shows how many people have visited this site, as
you probably guessed. This is brought to us by the fine people of
GoStats Live Web Reporting. Thanks. Also, the links which I just
put up on top right of the screen. Baylor is on there, and so is
by BlogRolling. These are the only two links I have, and if you
haven't guessed BlogRolling is also important. It's what gives me the
linking capability, when there was none before. So these groups
help this site and we're glad they do.
Thanks, and all you grads, keep in contact!

Create an Alumni Profile:

So how many of you have created an alumni profile
on Baylor's website yet? Not many, maybe just me.
But it's a great idea because you can search for contact
information easily, and you can donate (groan) easily
through there too. I am hoping to have a link bar on the
right side of the screen which will have Baylor's website.
Until then i think most of you know it and if not here's a
link. Baylor School. So continue having a good summer
and keep in touch!

Peer in the news:

It's amazing to me that although I started this only one
month after graduation I have to play catch-up with
the news about fellow grads. If I sound too much like an
alumni board member stop me. Well anyway, I think it would
be a good idea to mention Luke List. I don't know how many of
you know him, honestly I don't too much myself. But let's put
it this way, he's one great golfer. He recently qualified in the
US Open and did very well. I'm not much of a golfer so I
can't say really how well, although I know it's a great accomplishment.
So I'm just going to put a few links to articles about him and one by him, although there are
more on the internet, to show just how much of
an accomplishment it was.

Peer in the news:

I don't want to publish anything too private here, like where
people are going to college, unless they give me permission.
On the other hand, I feel that if it has been published in a newspaper
or a magazine or something like that then I'll try to link to it.

Today's is really brief about an article I noticed on the front-left side
of the Lifestyle section. It is one of those articles written by a high schooler,
of which we are not anymore, interviewing high schoolers or, in this and our case,
recent graduates. The article is about Ultimate Frisbee and our very own Tim
Huffstutter has a quote in it. I do not know if I have the right to post the quote
so instead I refer you to the article, section E Chattanooga Times Free Press, and
to the website through this link Ultimate Frisbee — ultimate fun,.
You will need a password and username but I think it is fairly easy, need to be a subscriber
though. That's all we have, so thanks and keep in touch!

Sunday, July 06, 2003

Well, there's not much to be said now, we did just graduate!
But if you want to send contact information to the webmaster
for reference for other alums or if you want to e-mail the webmaster to get
contact information about other alums, such as what college so and so is going to, then
e-mail the webmaster(s) at baylorschool2003@yahoo.com. Thanks
and keep in touch!
