Ok, I'm beginning to see a pattern. Time goes by, and then I post. Well, I'm not promising anything but I hope to change that.

Specifically, with this post I would like to refer to the previous post, which is probably rather familiar for some of you now. All I'm saying is, that it's bunk. Why? Well, as a lot of you know, because I've seen you, there is another better facebook (not mousetrap.) This one is called The Facebook. Albeit haughty this one's just plain better.

Now how to. Well, you're school probably already has it, and thus its just a matter of signing up. If your school doesn't have it, then there is a way through their site which you can notify them (click here). That's what I did, and they even wrote me back announcing its entrance into my presence.

Ok, maybe I'm overblowing this, but it's a good way to communicate and kind of addictive.

Well, it's been awhile. Thanksgiving is over (hope it was good.) Christmas is upon us and, for those of us in school, so are exams. Well to add a little organization to the business I present to you this:

Notice they even call it a facebook. This is an online database for college students. It's goals, or some of the things one can potentially do is:

Create a personal profile and upload pictures
Check out photos of other students
Find out who shares common interests, goals, and friends
See who else is in your classes
Meet students you wouldn't otherwise meet

First of all, I did not create this site (not that you would think it.) Second of all, it is a pretty good site because these things above can feasibly happen. This was introduced to us last year at my school but then opened up to tons of more schools. (For a complete list, look at bottom of this post.)

Well, maybe this can lead to a little catching up with friends or what not.

Well, the game ended with a really close score of 20-21. However, it was fun especially when we came back. Saw a few people back so that was good. Hopefully, it will be on Saturday next year though. But that's next year.

Well, well, it's only a few weeks into the school year and it's already that time again. Yep, football season, plus all the many other great fall sports. That's not what I mean though, alumni weekend. The Baylor-McCallie game this year will be a night game, which is different. It will be held at Finley Stadium with tailgate on Rike Field from 5 to 7 p.m., with kickoff at 8. The tickets are $6 each and can be purchased here online or at the school, through a family member most likely. I know it's not a reunion year for us, and I'm grateful because that'd mean time would have flown by way too fast, but it's always good to go back. I know no one cares but for me this will be my first trip back home this semster. See you did not care, but either way be planning ahead.

Well, it's almost time for college again and it's really amazing, well probably not, but I think a fair amount of people are, at least to some degree, looking foward to it. If you're like me, then you had a job and a change from that is good. For those of you who have already started, good luck and may it go well, and probably better than before. Maybe not though. Hello everyone. It's that time of year, maybe the first for some of you. Election time. Local, regional, national... It's all going to happen very soon. Why should you care? Many people, particularly of our age, are disenfranchised with the political climate. "It doesn't effect me" "They're all the same." Yes, I've heard it before, but honestly who is elected is important. Florida was a good example of that. Whether you approved or didn't approve, I am sure you still feel the importance. Here at this site I would like to make a non-partisan effort at helping you through the elections. That's right because I feel it is that important.
Here it goes:

Steps to take when choosing a candidate:

Register: Are you registered or have you ever been? If you are not then you can sign up here online at Working for Change.com. If you prefer a paper copy then you can print a National Voter Registration which is good in almost every state. Also, on the National Voter Registration the states are listed with the deadline for registered in each state. (Tennessee's deadline is thirty days prior to the election) Absentee and early voting will be discussed below.
Be Informed: It is always good to know a little about the candidates ahead of time, and that means a little research. Yet, instead of having to spend hours searching backlogs of information on candidates there are a few sites that one can go to. First of all, there is Project Vote Smart. This site will help you look at candidates records and stances. Also, the League of Women Voters and their affiliated site DemocracyNet can help inform you on candidates. For those of you in the Hamilton County - Chattanooga area click here for a sample ballot and more information specifically on politicians in our local area.
Just Vote: Go to the polls. The primaries for your local races are on August 5, with early elections explained below. Your local county election commission should show what district you are in and what location you are to vote at (i.e. church, public school, community center). Voting for presidential candidates and local ones (not the primary) takes place on November 2. Hamilton County Election Commission link is here and on the seperate page made for Hamilton County/Chattanooga voting located here.
Absentee Voting and Early Voting - First of all, with both Absentee voting and early voting each state has their own rules for when and how to register/vote. ActiVote America is a nonpartisan group which has information on how, when, and who can register absentee, yet so does Project Vote Smart. As of yet, I have not been able to find one site with dates and times for early voting for all precincts in the U.S., therefore, I advise that you type in Early Voting and your county's name into a search engine and you should find a helpful site. Early voting in Hamilton County, TN for the local candidate's primaries is already occurring and will conclude with the main election day of August 5, 2004, which is a Thursday. While the presidential election main date is Nov. 2 and the primaries are before hand respectively with the rules of the state that you vote in.

Once again if there is one thing you see this year it should be your completed ballot. So go out and vote. All the links will be summarized at the bottom with an additional link for Hamilton County information.

Ryan Bishop, whom I actually just saw the other day, qualified
for the Olympic trials, obviously an impressive achievement.
The trials started yesterday in Long Beach, California. Now,
I cannot find information about what is going on, but Baylor
Raider Recap, and now I, have a link to the schedule of events
at the trials. I wish I had known so I can wish him the best
of luck, but I am sure he will do great anyway.

The past year was a busy one for many of you I'd imagine. Well, the Baylor magazine has highlighted just a few accomplishments of what some of our peers have been doing.

Ben R. Bates - has been named to the Vanderbilt University Dean's list with high honors (a 3.5 average). Ben is part of Vanderbilt's school of engineering.

Caroline Boland - was selected to participate in the UNC-Chapel Hill Honors Program Abroad to study in Berlin, Germany, for the spring semester.

Alex Herrald - is a freshman at Cornell university in Ithaca, N.Y. He has pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon and has been elected president of his pledge class.

Wes Hodges - was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Player of the Week in April. Hodges, who led the Red Raiders to state championship last spring, currently leads the Yellow Jackets in hitting with a .413 average and has a team-high 12 RBI's.

Kilie Latendress - a member of the Dean's list at the University of Southern California, was invited to join the Honor Society. She's also been accepted into the school of theater, where she will major in Theater and minor in Spanish.

Luke List - was honored, along with Beth Felts, as athletes of the year by the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame for their outstanding achievements in golf. List was also named the Southeastern Conference Men's Golfer of the Week after finishing in a tie for third place in the Seminole Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla. He recently set a new Vanderbilt school record with a nine-under par round of 63 at the Hyatt/Dorado Beach Intercollegiate.

Well, I am sure there are plenty of other people out there with stuff too so we'll see it when it's there. Until then, have a happy 4th.

Well, I would now like to make a couple of public service
announcements. Why? Because I feel I need too. First of
all the summer is a time for me to revamp a lot of stuff,
and this includes moving this website to a more stable,
permanent, and adjustable site. I love blogger and appreciate
all that it's done for me, but I feel it is just time. The
new site will be at www.thezreport.com/baylor03, if that isn't
simple enough than you guys are just picky. This will be coming
relatively soon, but do not worry for this site will remain up
when I do move, and I will tell you when that is, for people to
adjust their lives, as they must, around this websites move.

Okay, on another note, their is an amazingly useful website
for us college students and that is profeval.com. As it's name
suggests this is a web site where your peers or you can post a
brief blurb about what Chem 101 with Hartford really is like before
you take it. If your college actively uses it, or just you, than
this can be a great help for people deciding which classes to take.
This was created by WKU students so that is why I know about it,
and I am just trying to spread the love. I know it has helped me,
and maybe it can help you. Once again that website is at profeval.com

Sorry for the business lately,
as most of you know it is that
time of year.

Speaking of that time of year,
it is very near the first 'anniversary'
since we graduated ourselves.
Time flew, at least for me.

Now, I hope you had a good year
or are planning on a good summer.
At the same time, I want to remind
you that if you want to go, the seniors
this year are graduating soon. Maybe
they're friends with you or what not, but
if so, the date for that is Saturday, May 29, 2:00 PM.

For parents, if there are any of this years

I know it's been awhile, and honestly, at
the end of your first year at college or just
in the work world, it can be a slow ending.
So I only a note or two, and that is just because
the school year is ending, does not mean that
the athletes are resting. So be sure to check
on your fellow peers and see how far they have

one that strikes me at the moment, and I'm not
saying these are bad or good really. I am just
pointing out the location of a free site similar to
this one only it is not a blog. I am not supporting
it or neglecting it, I am just mearly pointing it out

This is just the time for Baylor profiles
I guess. Although I've been trying to
figure how to do these next ones, so
sorry it's taken so long. But here it is...

Well, Sarah Zane has also been especially
busy this year. I mean with school, extra-
curricular activites, and visiting friends it's
hard not to be. So to try to conquer this
one step at a time, here is what has been
going on for her thus far.

First of all, Sarah Zane and Drew are acting
in their first film. I assume this is a college,
production but either way, I know they have
been working since first semester and that
they will be finished shooting in the spring.

Sarah Zane has also kept up with her theatre
roots and got the part of Bianca in Othello.

Now, on a still artistic note, Sarah Zane, busy
schedule and all, has still managed to have some
time for her outside activities. Yep, you guessed it,
belly dancing. She gets to do this at Broadyway
Dance Center, all this is at or around Sarah Lawrence
in the city of Bronxville, New York. Her first
performance with the group is at the Dance Center
in April.

All this time, she has been able to have plenty of
time and fun, keeping up with friends.

Well, that's Sarah Zane there, although I will try to be able
to talk about some of the other people who are doing
art and drama and really just everthing else.

of all these activities, for I will try to post them. Thanks

Well, how many of you people have been
living college to the fullest? Yes Alex, I am
sure you have, but I am not talking about
you and Megan at the moment. There, I
wrote it, I will get more later.

No, currently I am talking about
Christy Fazio. Christy has done a lot
of things at UTC thus far. Instead of
my weak attempts at showing how
good these accomplishments
are, I will just "list" them per se.

I would like to make a correction on Matt
Farr's scholarship. Matt got the scholarship
deservedly and I know he worked hard, but
what I got wrong was the fact that he got
the scholarship before going to Sewanee
and not after going there. In addition, I
would like to reassert that cheaper college
is a very, very good thing. Once again,
good job Matt. I hope I told you that last
year too.

Any of you returning to Chattanooga this
weekend? Christy Fazio has informed me
that on the 17th, tommorrow, there is a
Greek show going on in McLellan Gym at
UTC. It's at 7pm and I hear a lot of Baylor
alums will be involved. I know Christy will be
dancing in it, for the others parts I can only
guess. So, definitely be sure to check that
out if you can.

First of all, if you are a junior, or
know someone who is tell them
to CLEP. I gives you a lot of hours
if you can pass the tests, especially
at state schools.

More importantly, I just learned that
you can get scholarships mid-year.
It's not that I didn't know that, but from
the school you are going to? Well,
Matt Farr showed how it's done when
he got the Wilkins Scholarship from
his school, Sewanee. What's better
than paying less for college? Okay,
paying for nothing, I get it.
Congratulations Matt with your
scholarship. I bet it took some work.

It is time to talk about the person whom
I felt was the first lost alum. Unaware of
where he went to school, I really had no
idea what he was doing. But there is
a popular factor which makes many of our
alums stick out, sports. For this alum, it is
true yet again.

Fele is continuing on the baseball track yet
again, only this time with Southern Polytechnic.
He will play as their catcher and/or infielder, and
hopefully will help them win a lot.

So Fele, it is good to see that you are not
altogether gone, and maybe the baseball
season will do well for you.

which is really neat, because Hall
of Fames are just overall good, even

First of all, Katie Bulls is a member of the
Chattanooga State Softball Team. I know
that in the past they have always had a
strong team, and we will just have to see

Jeff is playing basketball as part of the
Maryville Scots. They have an 8-3 record
as of now, and could keep up the good

This past fall, LaGrange College's
cross-country teams competed
at NCAA regional. This was the
first time for any LaGrange team
to be in an NCAA event. Why does
this matter you ask? Well, it's
because Molly Woodward was one
of the runners. Since I haven't
seen it till now, I guess I very
well could judge her performance
now except for the fact that I'll let
you do it, and I don't have a clue
about how cross-country scoring

Well, I'm back I told you I would be.

Some more sports, reminder, this year,
is to remember how well the baseball
team did this year. The Chattanooga
Times-Free Press paid homage to it
briefly as being one of the highlights
of this years local area sports. This was
Gene Etter's first win at state during his
Baylor tenure. The Tennessee Baseball
Coaches Association chose Gene Etter
as the Division II's Coach of the Year
and our very own Wes Hodges as
Division II's Player of the Year.
Wes got a hit everytime he batted,
and he got three RBI's. It's already
happened but it's still a great
accomplishment.

It's sports time for us 2003 grads, with two
record breakers.

First of all, Ryan Bishop once again set another
pool record. He set this one, a 4:00.78 in the 400
individual medley, during a tri-meet against Florida
Atlantic and Purdue. Three records broken already,
is just an amazing feat, and congratulations for it.

Then, there is Luke List who has definitely kept busy
with his golf. During the Louisiana Invitational, at LSU's
Country Club, Luke shot 7 under 65. This means he set
the Vanderbilt men's record for most shots under par in
a single round! With this effort, he came out fourth
individually in the tournament. Good job Luke.

Some time ago, you may remember Baylor-McCallie
and Alumni weekend. Well, Baylor has just released
some photos from that weekend. Sure, it is true that
there are more pictures of our parents, but there is
one picture that I want to note. That is the one and
only picture that I know that highlights, among a few
others, a classmate of ours. In this case it is Clay
Crumbliss. Clay, his uncle, his dad, and his grandfather
played together in the alumni golf tournament. I think
it's pretty impressive that their family has been connected to
Baylor for that long. Well, keep watch for you may be in
a picture, but until then good luck with the rest of the
semester for the holidays are close.

It was good to see that so many people
came together to remember Phillip. We
have not had so many fellow students
together since graduation, but it is in, sadly,
a more somber situation. Phillip was a friend
no doubt about that. Hopefully, friends and
family will learn to ease their troubled hearts
even if only slightly, and may we spread that
seed of happiness that is Phillip. Tomorrow
is Thanksgiving so be thankful for what is
precious in the world for it is just that, precious.

Obituary: Phillip Cole

Sadly, Phillip Cole passed away this past Sunday.
May your love and prayers be with the family and
friends of Phillip. He was a great guy, and that is
an understatement. The family will receive friends
from five to eight tonight at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. in the Baylor
Alumni Chapel tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday 26.

Phillip I can not speak for others so I speak for myself
in saying thanks for all the good times in advisor, Spanish,
and just life in general. Such things like these should never
happen to such great people like you. Hasta luego,

Ryan is not the only one setting
records at his school. Now Luke
List has joined the ranks by finishing
seven under par at the Louisiana
Invitational, which set the record
the most shots under par in one round.
So by the end of it all he was 4th
and his team was 10th. Two record
breakers are not bad, not bad at all.

This past Saturday, Ryan Bishop set two
pool records at Georgia Tech. He did this
in the 200 breaststroke and the 200
individual medley with times of 2:03.60
and 1:52.16 respectively. This is an
excellent accomplishment, but yes he's
an excellent swimmer. Good job with those
great times and Georgia Tech's win!

The final and upsetting score for the game was
McCallie - 35 and Baylor - 6.

For those of you who missed the game, the newly
formed Baylor Broadcast Network made an audio
recording of the game which can be found here.

I am sorry that I did not know of their live internet
audio stream, because that would have let some
of you still listen in.

Also, since it is interesting how this Baylor Broadcast
came about I'll tell you that too. Pretty much two
innovative Baylor Students, Ryan Crimmins and
Clay Stockett, sophomore and freshman respectively,
decided to broadcast Baylor's games and have been
doing that since the beginning of the season.
They reguarly broadcast on WFLI-1070 AM.

Well, it was a sad day in Chattanoogaville.
The Baylor lost a crushing defeat to our
rivals. I will have the score posted later.
It was too sad to try to remember.

Good news was there were a good amount
of fellow alums. Well, I hope you had fun
coming back anyway and realizing the scary
truth that the "Welcome Back Alumni" sign
was for us.

Well, we better beat them next year and until
then have a good college life.

Today is a good day to remember that most
McDonald's people only work part-time and
and that football managers aren't supposed to.
I am talking about our own, my friend, Matt
St. Charles. Currently manager of the UTC
football team, Matt has, as he does so well,
become a part of the lifestyle there. So
much so that the Chattanooga Times Free-Press
wrote an article about him and his managing. The
article is a very good and caring article that
does justice to him. Although, I have not
been able to reach him for comment, since
I lost his cell phone number and apparently
have the wrong e-mai address I will just
assume and hope he is happy and proud of
what he is accomplishing.

Well, I will try to
call you or something, but until then, don't get
lost on the path of life, because we might get
yelled at.

Also I am very sorry, but due to the Chattanooga
Times Free-Press poor website format. I apologize
for them and suggest reading today's paper.

is on the 18 of this month. I know it is not
an actual reunion but you do not want to
start losing touch with friends already.

Well, all you alums, it is a busy time of
year. Some of you are going to college
this weekend; some of you have been
there for a little while; some of you are
not going for several more days. Either
way this is a busy time and I wish you
the best of luck merging college into
your lifestyle. You will be told, and
rightly so, that you need to make new
friends because you can not just be
with your high school friends all the
time, but this does not mean forget
each other. Which brings me to my
point.

Alumni weekend is coming around
The corner, albeit a rather long corner,
But it is never too early to plan. It takes
Place on the 16th,17th, and 18th, Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday respectively. This
means you will probably want to get tickets
to the Baylor-McCallie football game, and yes
They are already selling them. (I have a link to
Where you can buy or R.S.V.P. to all of these
Events at the end of this post. It is being
Held at Finley with a 2:30 kickoff, and the
Traditional barbeque will take place at 11:30
To 1:30 just before the came. There is also a
Run, a bash, an open house, a dedication of
The new golf facility, a choir performance,
A sculpture presentation, a memorial service,
A brunch, a club meeting, a golf tournament,
And an alumni awards banquet. For all this
You will either need to buy a ticket(s) or to
R.S.V.P. to these events. Make sure to do this
so that you will be able to meet with old friends

For most of the summer, there have
been plenty of news articles written
about Baylor alumni golfers. This is
especially true with our fellow grad
Luke List. Luke, after starting with
the US Open has been playing in
all sorts of different tournaments.
In seven days, Luke is going up to
Pennsylvania to play in U.S. Amateur.
With the upcoming sports seasons, I
am sure that all of our great high
school turned college athletes will

This post should not be limited to just
summer tales, but also how people
felt their first week of school. The

Well, as the summer winds its way
down, I noticed one thing in particular;
Luke's game is still staying strong.
In a recent East vs. West tournament,
in the American Junior Golf Associations
Canon Cup, Luke, with the East, came to
a victory over the West. Luke did not lose

Well, now that summer vacation is almost
over (sigh), I feel it would be a good idea
to do a summer recap, aka Raider Recap.
Cheesy, but hey. What this would be
is postings of stories submitted to me by you,
Baylor 2003 grads, about an interesting event
or story or something about your summer that
was fun, interesting, boring, or whatever.
This might be a bad idea, but I'm just trying it
out, and I will not be too surprised if nobody
sends stuff, but that is okay. If you do here is

There are a few guidelines/precautions that I
would like you to consider.

Here are some guidelines for whatever you
send to have posted, more for your benefit
than mine. Do not let these scare you away
if you have a good story. First of all, this
website is seen by a fair amount of people.
Many of these people are Chattanooga people,
and if you talk about a story that you might not
want certaing people to know than I advise
you not to send that story at all. This would
also be a good reason not to cuss or be vulgar
in any manner, but I would prefer you not to
do that anyway. Another thing to note is that
these posts are going to be seen for a long
time. Web pages tend not to disappear. So
if this is a story that maybe even a couple years
down the road you would rather forget, and
have others do the same, then do not post it.

Raider Recap

Now many of you have had jobs and gone to Florida
during the summer. Yes, all that is very usual so for
The first recap I am going to mention three Baylor
grads who went for the unusual. They would be
Chas, Kirby, and Luisa. Some of you may have
heard about Tim taking a group of people to India
this summer. Well, he did and these are just three
of the eight people who went. That is all I know
about the trip quite honestly, but their website should

Well, I'm back in action,
the vacation was fun
but it's good to be home.

Somehow it is not a surprise that the Sunday edition of
the Chattanooga Times Free Press gives me more news
to announce than I had all last week. So first I'll start with
some news that is not about us directly but is just pretty
incredible and still Baylor related. Baylor is getting a golf center.
Yes, a golf center. This will include several places for golfers
to tee off and a green with sand traps. Right when we leave too!
I mean what could have been better for you golfers to do in
your free period.

It never seems to stop. That is the golf news I keep
getting. I mean I truly do not know that much about
golf and with Luke List and now the construction of
the new Baylor Golf Center I am having to learn all
about the playing of the game. But it gets worse,
as many of you are aware the Classic, a PGA tour
tournament, is being hosted at the prestigious
Black Creek Club. Well, If you will all turn with me to
page 10 in the "Classic" insert in your Chattanooga Times
Free Press, there you go, then you will see another one
of our own preparing the club for the Chattanooga Classic.

That man is Clay Crumbliss. Needless to say, the part that
he is doing, the painting, the mowing, and the landscaping,
I do know a little about. So there is not too much golf
overload on my part. I am going to take a little liberty here,
since I Matt is my friend, and also say that Matt Farr, although
I do not know specifically what he is doing, is also helping.
Good luck to both of you, and all of you going to see the Chattanooga
Classic thank them for the hard work that they have done and
still will be doing.

Well, I know for most of you fellow grads,

There are a bunch or reasons why I started this weblog.
One of the main reasons is that I wanted to get the news
for our class, 2003, out sooner than Baylor itself would.
This would make this the go-to site for 2003 grad information.
Well, it appears so far it's going pretty well, because I just got the
Baylor Magazine and I already talk about a lot of that stuff.

Initially, the magazine starts out with a From the Editor section,
where the editor says frankly the limitations of the magazine.
"You won't read because of the constraints of our publication..."
But here you already have read about some of the things he does
not have space for, like Luke List qualifying for the U.S. open.
They don't mention our three grads recognized all-state by the TSWA.
They do mention the valedictory award winner and a bunch of other
award winners, that I'll talk about briefly. Oh yeah, and Drew Frederickson
was honorably mentioned, especially because of his cares for the editor,
Julie J. Van Valkenburg's son.

Honestly, the reason I did not write about them is because there are too many
and we've heard them before. If you want specifics e-mail me at

There's also a lot of sports awards, like best of preps. You can go to it at the
Raider Recap for June. I can't link to the Chattanooga Times Free Press

I have noticed that most of the information I am
currently posting about fellow alums is sports related. It makes
sense really, so here is some more athletic alumni news.

Peers in the news:

Since spring sports end so late in the year, many of the
awards are announced a fair amount of time later.
Well, today, the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA)
announced it's choices for the all-state teams for baseball.
Wes Hodges was duly honored as an infielder, while
Kane Simmons was equally awarded as a designated
hitter. Good job to both of you, and good luck with your
future baseball endeavors.

At the same time, TSWA also announced their
all-state softball team and Katie Bulls, an outfielder, recieved
their recognition. Congratulations to you, and good luck with
you sports whichever ones you do.

It's amazing to me that although I started this only one
month after graduation I have to play catch-up with
the news about fellow grads. If I sound too much like an
alumni board member stop me. Well anyway, I think it would
be a good idea to mention Luke List. I don't know how many of
you know him, honestly I don't too much myself. But let's put
it this way, he's one great golfer. He recently qualified in the
US Open and did very well. I'm not much of a golfer so I
can't say really how well, although I know it's a great accomplishment.

I don't want to publish anything too private here, like where
people are going to college, unless they give me permission.
On the other hand, I feel that if it has been published in a newspaper
or a magazine or something like that then I'll try to link to it.

Today's is really brief about an article I noticed on the front-left side
of the Lifestyle section. It is one of those articles written by a high schooler,
of which we are not anymore, interviewing high schoolers or, in this and our case,
recent graduates. The article is about Ultimate Frisbee and our very own Tim
Huffstutter has a quote in it. I do not know if I have the right to post the quote

Well, there's not much to be said now, we did just graduate!
